When an emotion of pure true love blossoms for the True Master inside our heart, it can be stated as the Love for the True Master.
When this emotion for the True Master generates in the heart of the devotee and he longs for the holy glimpse, he bears an unshaken faith in the lotus feet it is then when the realization of the True Master as the visible form of the Supreme Master takes place. Uttering the True Master as the form of Supreme Master and experiencing Him as such are two different things. Bearing true love for the True Master is mandatory on the path of spirituality. It doesn’t matter since how long the being has been a devotee or had been practicing meditation for a long time but until there is firm love for the True Master in his heart, the soul will not be able achieve its desired destination.
The beings that follow demonic emotions always remain in the false ego of ‘I, me and mine’. To pamper their inflated ego, false prestige they behave like a devotee externally but internally they are exactly opposite. All the saints and Gurus have named such kind of devotion as the ‘demonic devotion’ (Asuri Bhakti). True devotee remains deeply coloured in the hues of love for the Master and never deviates from following the command of his Master. These are the signs of true devotion or ‘Satvik Bhakti’. The divine form of the Supreme Master appears through this true love and devotion.
Satguru, the True Master has given the goblet of divine love to the devotee. There is only divine love in the very glance of the Satguru. Dear devotees! When within his heart, the devotee sees the affectionate form of Satguru, when he remembers his sweet words, when the memories of his Satguru flood back, he is overwhelmed with emotions and tears roll down his eyes.
This is the greatness of devotion. Devotion becomes the part of his very existence. Such a devotee implores the True Master (Satguru), ‘Oh my Lord, Madhav Purukh! Ever since you have given me the shelter, blessed with great devotion to your lotus feet, my soul is hued in your devotion and I realized the secret of Truth’. The devotee says, ‘O Lord, I am not hungry for these worldly relations, wealth, power, fame or success, grant me devotion to your lotus feet. Let these false, worldly possessions and trappings of power and wealth not tempt me and not take me away from the joy of your devotion. There lies a fear within me as I lack the ability to decipher the guileful behaviour of the people in this world.
The devotee knows the significance of pure devotion. In his heart, there is not even the slightest nuance of the delusive, worldly things. The real devotee always garbs the hue of purity and wants to spend each moment in the service of his Master. He wants to be committed to his Satguru in mind, speech and actions (Karmas). These are the signs of the pure devotion. It is in this state of pure devotion that the ‘I’ or ‘self-centeredness’ is destroyed and then is manifested the real form of the Self.
Oh my Madhav, Merciful Master, I take refuge in you. Grant me pure devotion towards you. I am now tinged in your devotion and realize that light within with the help of which I have attained your true wealth, the divine love and devotion. Oh Lord, shower on me your grace so that I may become your true devotee through my actions, speech, body and mind.
